Fractured sky

When I’m home I try to check out the sunrise every morning. Usually it’s when I take the dogs for their morning walk, but, as I noted in the last post, sometimes things change by the time I get back inside to a camera. This morning I went out on the deck before I walked the dogs, and this is what I saw.

Sunrise, Monday, 23 September

It was a little surprising, because Sunday had been nearly cloud free, and with a frontal passage the weather guys had said the humidity would be low.

By afternoon, the sky had cleared and it turned into one of those great, low-humidity fall days. The sun was bright and almost hot, but the shade was still cool. Nice.

  1. I love fall, too, and it feels like it’s here. It’s funny how it sort of sneaks up on you — or at least me. It doesn’t really seem like there’s a gradual transition. Suddenly it’s fall. Of course we may have a relapse before it’s all over.

  2. That really is a fractured sky. IThe clouds make me think of small islets in a river. Autumn is swinging into full gear as I rush to finish up a few last jobs here at the NS house. Last week, there was a day when the plants made that transition from summer green to autumn gold. It seemed to happen in the space of 24 hours.

  3. A few trees have started their transitions, but it’s still mostly green around here. But then I noticed a few days ago that at least one tree had dropped most of its leaves onto the road during a fairly heavy rain. That really made it look like fall.
