Friday Felines

Sleepy, but not quite sleepy enough to actually lie down.

Comfy?

Comfy?

Lying down would be too much trouble. And that pillow is softer than the sofa.

This was taken not long after we got Smokey’s summer cut. You can see the pink wound on his side. We think it might have been a razor burn. But maybe not.

  1. Is Smokey long-haired? His head looks very much like that of our very long-haired cat Doppelganger.

  2. That’s quite a boo-boo Smokey has. Wonder how that happened. Our kitty cat’s fur has grown so much since his lion-cut. We are paying particular attention to keeping him well groomed (he doesn’t do it himself very much anymore). We would like him not to get matted again.

  3. Scott – Leah says his hair is not long compared to a couple of our other cats, but it is longer than a typical short-hair. I guess it’s medium length.

Robin Andrea – The boo-boo looked pretty bad right after we got him back from the groomer. Leah suspects that they did it during the grooming, but they said they didn’t. I suppose it could have been hidden under his fur before it was cut, but it looked recent. He doesn’t get mats. Our other two “long” haired cats don’t seem to have that problem either. I think their hair is longish, but not as long as some long-haired cats. So, if Smokey’s hair is medium, Zoe and Sylvester’s hair must be medium-long.

  4. Our Doppelganger (fully indoors) would be a mass of “knots” (i.e., matted fur) if we didn’t brush her constantly and cut out the knots that DO develop. I don’t know if it’s because she’s long-haired,or if it’s just the nature of her fur. A lion cut might be in order for her–if she’d let a groomer get at her, which is highly questionable.

  5. We tried to get Sylvester groomed. It was a struggle and they eventually had to give up before they were completely done. He got pretty aggressive.
