Who wants curtains?

I have mentioned before that we can look out towards the east from our bed. This was what woke us up Tuesday morning.

Fewer clouds Friday morning.

A few minutes later the sun peeked above the horizon.

Leah worries that bare windows will make it feel cold in the bedroom once winter gets here. That’s probably true, but I would hate to miss sunrises like these. In the summer, the sun is well up by the time these photos were shot. Fortunately, the sun rises further towards the north in the summer, so it doesn’t shine directly into the window and our eyes.

  1. First thing I do every morning is open all the blinds on the east side of the house. Wouldn’t want to miss a single sunrise, especially as pretty as these. I bet you can see some beautiful moonrises as well. I’d love to see a photo of a full moon rising in that sky there.

  2. Our retirement house in Colorada has a large bank of windows facing northeast. Virtually the entire wall is glass. However, Kali has already started making the “it’s going to feel cold” in the winter noises, even if the glass is super-insulated. She’s contemplating window covers, and we haven’t even moved in! (Let us know how this works out, Leah. Maybe if you can live without curtains, Kali can too.)

  3. Robin — The moon has been impressive the last few days. I have not been able to get a shot of it so far, mainly because I forget to look until it’s too high in the sky.

Scott — I think we’ll eventually have to get some kind of window treatment. I kind of lean towards shutters, but I think Leah prefers curtains.
