Hanging on

The persimmon tree has lost all its leaves, and the hickories have lost most of theirs. However, they are still hanging on to some of this fall’s fruit.

The possums have been working on the persimmons, but the last ones are just too high in the tree to reach, and the limbs are apparently too thick to easily chew through. These persimmons will almost certainly last into next year.

  1. I didn’t see any persimmons over the weekend in the woods. I guess the critters got all of mine already. They’re welcome to them.

  2. I’ve seen both raccoons and possums scurrying up persimmon trees to feed. That’s great! Fewer of the mushy fallen fruits for me to scrape off my shoes.

  3. Pablo — It’s odd that the critters haven’t finished our persimmons, but they didn’t finish them up last year, either.

Wayne –Fortunately for me, I walk past the tree on the street, so I can see the persimmons before I step on them.
